Not right for a grocery store.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My order said cheese slices were not available?? Razors not available??and sliced meat not available??

How can none of these products not be available, I allowed for substitutes but still said items not available?? How is it possible that an entire store has no cheese slices or razors??

I would also like to comment on the fact that the delivery fee went from $4.99 to $10.99 !!! Its bad enough you take an extra 15% on every order but now the delivery charge more than doubled!?! Absolutely ridiculous.

I have been ordering groceries from Metro almost every week for 3 years, but it has been at least 6 months since I actually got everything I ordered. So frustrating.

Had major contest issues that no one could solve, couldn't even enter because the codes sent by email wouldn't work in the entry form and even though I spoke to 3 different people and was told each time that someone from the promotional department would call me, it never happened. Again so frustrating.

Expensive for low quality products

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
EVERY time I buy dairy products there they are rotten way before the best before date. The only sales they have are 2 for 1 & as a single person on a fixed income this doesn't benefit me at all! Its too bad as its very convenient for me location wise but I think its worth the trip to switch to No Frills.

Tried marketing promo, ended closing my account

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I wanted to place my second order, taking advantage of MAGIC2 $15 OFF on second order. I received earlier a $10 offer if i buy 3 (expensive) meats from Holidays offer (METROHOLIDAYS2023). Application accepts only one promo code so i either give up my $15 which i am entitled to for the second order, or forego $10 discount on $60 meats. I called customer service phone line. No help at all. So i decided to punish Metro for their hopeless service and closed my account. Don't abide incompetence.

What i think as a consumer as how you treat employees

walked into store and a nice stationfor customers to clean their hands before shopping. Went inside all plexi glass is gone for cashiers. Its the busiest time in the store at xmas, people coughing sneezing, but nothing to protect the cashiers. This is the time when flu is bad rsv, covid and all germs spreading. You could have waited to spring but at christmas, for all millions you make you dont think much for emploees

Flyer products not available.

Life is precious. Time is valuable. I went into Metro on Keele and Wilson today. The first day of the flyer sale. t's not the first time I have gone in for something on sale and it has not been in stock. Whats the point of advertising something and not having enough stock on hand. I will not be shopping at this store in the future. I am tired of stores wasting my time. and promising what they cannot deliver using this tactic.

Bad service at the seafood counter.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
You have your bacon wrapped scallops on a skewers today for 3.99 each. This is about 11.30 this morning. I seen two in the slot, but I wanted more. When I asked him, he said this is it. He says do you want me to check the back and I said yes. He was gone a couple of minutes and came back to say they don't have any. My complaint is, why do you have them on sale and why couldn't they make my order? He was a teenager that seemed like he didn't even want to be there. If my teenagers asked like that I would be disgusted.

Disappointed that 2 of my frequently bought items have been discontinued for less quality brands. I didn't buy Selection Potato Salad & won't buy Tim Nels Jamaican patties again.

Implicit Bias and Over-zealous Security.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Feb 13, 2023

My husband and I have used our local Metro store for about five years because of its convenience, being situated just across the road from where we live. However, it always appears that we are under over-zealous scrutiny from security and staff each time we visit.

We have no idea why because we spend a lot of money each time we shop and certainly don't act in a suspicious manner. Perhaps it's because we are a mixed-race couple, maybe dress too casually or are considered scruffy, too fat, too old, or a combination of biases? I understand a rise in the cost of grocery items correlates to a rise in shoplifting, but seriously, enough is enough already.

We have experienced a plethora of odd incidents relating to staff following us, scrutiny from till operatives as we walk down each aisle and staff has literally breathed down our necks at the self-checkout, even when putting on my gloves after paying.

Although we have joked about this problem, the realization that this does not happen elsewhere has clinched the decision to call it quits and not visit the store again. I believe it is better to have some self-respect and not allow retail employees to treat you in this manner, so Metro at 221 Lloyd Manor Rd, Etobicoke can go and do one...maybe hassle someone else with their "isms" for a change.

Has anyone one of you notice how much Metro and Loblaws food store are taking ADVANTAGE of low income people or people living on a tight budget or simply living alone. They keep advertising buy two for $6.00 or one for $3.49 ----3 for $9.00 or one for $3.49 and so on.

Look at how much more PROFITS they are making selling single items. Covid is the best thing that ever happened for the food retailers. Since Metro owns Jean Coutu pharmacies and Food Basics, they are implementing the same thing in those retail outlets. Loblaws own Shoppers drug Mart and Independent, they are also implementing the same thing in those retail outlets.

Walmart and Giant Tiger are also doing the same thing.

Then people wonder why prices are going up and up.

These food retailers are squeezing every penny out of their suppliers and threatening them with penalties if an order is short of items.

Bottom line is they are THIEVES, and yet the Canadian government is giving them money for renovations in their properties.

Remember years ago when Lob laws orchestrated a price increase for bread and yet nothing as happened for that. But we are still paying the high prices for bread.

Please get on board and send massive emails to each company to let them know your disaffection.

Poisoned feed of lambs and cows

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was buying Australian lamb until it suddenly turned bad no matter how many racks of lamb I bought, they all smelled and tasted like diapers that had not been changed despite the need to do so. I then tried New Zealand lamb racks and was pleasantly surprised. Great taste, tender and less fat to throw away. However, I did not like the excessive rosemary and garlic added on the meat. Those herbs may have been a way to camouflage bad taste or maybe as preservative to prevent spoilage. At the Metro Grocery store in the meat department the sales staff said Ontario lamb was far superior - far better, in fact, the BEST they claimed. So I bought four racks of lamb. The meat was far more expensive even though there is no shipping costs such as would be incurred shipping to Ontario, Canada from New Zealand. Still, I thought, it's local lamb so it probably is better as they'd be more easily held to account and probably charge more than New Zealand or Australia because they maintan superior pastures. I CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW DISGUSTING ALL FOUR RACKS OF LAMB SMELLED AND TASTED. HORRIBLE IS NOT ADEQUATE TO DESCRIBE THE UN-NATURAL TASTE. The color was so faded I could have easily mistaken it for pork - and maybe they do substitute small pigs and then call it lamb! I've heard other friends complain they cannot get good tasting meat at Metro stores in Ontario. It could be that Quebec - where the Metro chain is owned - thinks it's funny to trick the stupid "Anglais". But if you observe Halal or Kosher, do not use the fake "lamb" from Ontario sold in Metro grocery stores. It might be pork because the taste, which is horrible, does seem to resemble pork. I'm also guessing they do not pasture the Ontario lambs but only feed them GMO corn which is why I had to throw away more than half of the meat because it was mostly lamb - and all that at a cost far higher than the superior New Zealand lamb. I just tried calling Metro's customer service line and all I got was an extended long repetitive recording saying to go to the website. Do yourself a favor and do not risk eating meat from poor animals that are clearly abused with the blighted GMO grains they are most likely fed. As for my local Ontario Metro grocery stores - they have lost my purchasing revenue and that of anyone I can advise and warn. If the animals suffer in their lifetime with confinement and poor quality grain or pelleted feeds, imagine what hormones are in the meat you're going to eat and feed your family. No wonder everyone I know says they cannot find decent meat at Metro even though the prices are higher than other grocery stores.

Metro Inc. Has The Worst Technology Online For Selling Gift Cards

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Metro Inc. Has The Worst Technology Online For Selling Gift Cards! In Fact, they do Not Sell Them Online due to Fraud which is what I was told. Here is the story..... Yesterday, being Thursday, July 2, 2015 was my Mother's 84th Birthday! I tried to purchase a gift card last night and so I called their Bathurst Street/Sheppard Avenue store location out in Toronto, Ontario Canada for assistance and they told me that I could ONLY purchase the gift card using my credit card during the daytime inside their store. Well, I told the store representative that I am in Los Angeles and can Not be there to make the in-store purchase, he then told me to call their corporate office to help me. Now here we are being Friday, July 3rd, 2015 and Yes, I did contact their corporate office and somebody from their Montreal, Quebec Canadian Headquarters did return my phone call from the phone number of: 514-356-**** at 10:02 a.m., however, they told me that they are unable to accept credit cards over the phone or on their website to purchase gift cards due to Fraud. I thought that their Excuses were Redundant and Not Legitimate, nor Credible, but a Major Inconvenience when by the Year of 2015, they should have the Proper Technology to Handle Credit Card Purchases for Gift Cards and they purposely and deliberately don't, by Personal Choice! Excuses and Lies for things like this certainly do Not work with ME! I will just Take My Money elsewhere! Sure glad I don't have to do business with them on a regular basis! Thank you for Nothing! ps: No wonder the other review written was also Negative!
